Neuropsychological evaluations help clarify the nature of children’s difficulties in regard to academic, behavioral, social, and emotional functioning. Diagnoses are provided if appropriate. Most importantly, factors are identified that affect a child’s ability to succeed. Specific recommendations are provided to help children and adolescents thrive at home and at school, including recommendations for academic and/or special education programming, interventions, supports, services, and testing accommodations.
Often parents are seeking evaluations to determine if their child has diagnoses such as Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder; Learning Disability; Autism Spectrum Disorder; Intellectual Disability; Giftedness; Mood Disorders (Depression, Anxiety, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, etc.), and Oppositional-Defiant or Impulse-control Disorders.
I conduct all testing and interview services directly. I do not hire psychometrists/interns/students to conduct testing services.
Evaluations include parent and child clinical interviews, review of educational and medical records, review of previous evaluations, and administration of well-recognized and well-validated tests of:
- Intellectual functioning
- Executive functioning skills such as reasoning, problem-solving, multi-tasking, behavioral regulation/impulsivity, and organization skills
- Processing Speed
- Language skills – comprehension and expression
- Attention – auditory and visual attention, sustained attention, working memory
- Learning and Memory – visual and verbal memory
- Visuomotor skills
- Academic achievement and assessment for learning disabilities related to reading (ex. Dyslexia; difficulties with letter/word decoding, reading comprehension, reading speed, etc.), math, and written expression
- Emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning
Evaluations may also include interviews, administration of rating scales, and consultations with school staff (with consent from parents).
I am a NY Department of Education (DOE) approved provider and I frequently provide Independent Neuropsychological Evaluations. For NY DOE Independent Evaluations, with an Assessment Authorization, I accept payment directly from the DOE. Parents are not billed for services.
